ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The department of Botany started functioning since the inception of this university in 2008 with sanctioned faculty strength of 6 and a student intake capacity of 20. The department is an integral part of the School of Life Sciences consisting of the departments of Botany, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Human Physiology and Zoology providing an emphasis on the interdisciplinary approach towards teaching of Life Sciences at Post-Graduate levels.
COURSES OFFERED
The department at present offers M.Sc. Courses with specialization in (i)
Molecular Mycology, Virology and Plant Pathology, (ii) Molecular Genetics,
Advanced Cell Biology & Applied Plant Breeding and (iii) Advanced Plant
Physiology, Biochemistry and Plant Molecular Biology. The broad areas of
research undertaken in this department leading to Ph.D. degree are Plant
Stress Biology; Plant Molecular Virology; Genetic diversity, Molecular
identification, Biocontrol and Genomics of Phyto-pathogens; Plant
Biotechnology and Crop improvement; Tissue culture, Tree improvement and
Reproductive Biology. The department at present offers M.Sc. Courses with
