Dr. Chandralekha Ghosh has earned her graduation and post graduation degree in Economics from Jadavpur University in 1998 and 2000 respectively. She started her research career as a research associate in Planning and development Unit at Department of Economics at Jadavpur University. She has received Research Fellowship under West Bengal state government scholarship scheme in 2002. She has completed her PhD under the supervision of Dr. Ajitava Raychaudhuri at the Department of Economics at Jadavpur University in 2008. She has worked as a UGC appointed lecturer in Umeschandra College under University of Calcutta before joining West Bengal State University till January, 2009. Her area of research is agriculture economics, rural credit with application of advanced econometric-modeling.
At present she is working on self help groups and rural financing in West Bengal. Her expertise lies in advanced econometric modeling and working with various econometric softwares, dealing with primary level data as well as large data sets.
Area of Interest
Agriculture economics, mainly productivity and efficiency measurements and issues related to globalization of agriculture. She is also working on issues like self help groups, microfinance and rural credit market.
Current Projects:
Working as co- investigator of the UGC funded research project titled “Evaluating Economic and Social Impact of Joining SHG”.
Working as one of the co-directors of ICSSR sponsored major research project titled “Borrowing Patterns in a Rural Economy – A selective Study”.
