He has completed his master degree in Commerce from the University of Burdwan with 1st class and stood 1st in M.Com Examination held in 1994. He has also completed the final examination of Cost and Works Accountancy held in December 1995. He started his career as an Accounts Officer in Bharat Electronics Ltd from 31st December 1996. He came to teaching on 19th August 2000 when he joined Tarakeswar Degree College which he left on 4th August 2004 in order to join the Department of Commerce of North Bengal University as Lecturer. He has been awarded the PhD degree on 9th February 2009 by the University of Burdwan for successfully completing his research work on the effect of reforms on capital structure of Indian pharmaceutical companies.
