ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Started in 2008, the department of Sanskrit imparts higher education on Sanskrit language, literature, grammar and philosophy. Being the mother of all Indian languages and the most important among the IE family of languages, the study of Sanskrit can open the floodgates of knowledge both sacred and secular. The world’s most ancient Vedic literature, the Puranas and epics with a host of tales and fables dealing with moral principles etc. constitute the store-house of Indian wisdom, heritage and culture. The objective of the Sanskrit department of the university lies in making the students aware of the holistic approach to life and knowledge.
COURSE OFFERED
- I . The two year course divided into four semesters, offered to the post graduate (M.A.) students of the university, covers a wide range of subjects. The areas for specialization from the third semester include paniniyan grammar, Sanskrit poetry and poetics (Sahitya), the Vedas and philosophy especially the Nyaya and Vedanta. The advanced texts representing the uniqueness of particular subjects are prescribed so as to make the students understand the richness and profundity of these subjects. The medium of class instruction and writing examinations being Sanskrit exclusively, the students opting for the courses can sharpen their communicative skill in Sanskrit.

- II . The opportunity of doctoral research at the completion of a well defined course work, refreshingly broaden scholars’ horizon.
SPECIAL ACTIVITIES
I Special lectures/Seminars by renowned resource persons from famous institutions of India.
II Elocution and debate contests in Sanskrit for the students to develop spoken fluency and improve pronunciation.
III The future plan :
a) Publishing a research journal in Sanskrit open for contribution to any person of every part of India.
b) Publishing a Sanskrit magazine of modern writings open for contribution to any person of every part of India.
